Worker falls 9 m into a service void

While cleaning in a building under construction, a 50-year-old worker fell about 9 m down to the basement service void.

Floor and shaft openings must be covered with secured, load-bearing covers or guarded – especially for later trades such as cleaners who know the site less well.
