During sampling in a fume cupboard the people present were contaminated for reasons still unknown. Chemical response team measurements afterwards found no hazardous substances.

Even routine sampling needs a risk assessment, suitable PPE and practised emergency procedures. A fume cupboard is no substitute for knowing what is in the container.
